Overview
To provide primary care physicians in East Texas with a comprehensive update on cardiovascular conditions that are commonly encountered in daily practice. The latest clinical trial evidence and clinical guidelines will be discussed along with case presentations illustrating how to incorporate the guidelines into clinical practice.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Provide attendees with an update on current treatment strategies for valvular heart disease.
  2. Provide attendees with an increased understanding of mechanisms of DVT and treatment options for pulmonary embolism.
  3. Provide attendees with insight into work/personal life balance, and how to manage the unique demands of medicine.
  4. Improve the overall knowledge base among primary care providers regarding cardiovascular conditions commonly seen in everyday practice.

Accreditation
The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler is accredited by the Texas Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
