Overview
Our aim is to establish a regular monthly educational meeting that integrates clinical content with faculty development material. We've tentatively scheduled these sessions for the first and second Thursday (a repeat of the first Thursday) of each month, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, in the Weiker room on the Downtown campus.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Discuss strengths and weaknesses of the scoring tools used to categorize pulmonary embolism patients.
  2. Identify patients most likely to benefit from interventions beyond anticoagulation alone.
  3. Describe the evolving management of submassive pulmonary embolism and potential changes to future guidelines.
  4. Identify the complexities in the caring for these patients and the possible value of establishing a Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT).

Accreditation
The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler is accredited by the Texas Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
