Overview
The Science and Society Symposium will bring speakers of international renown to our UT Tyler SOM community to discuss advances in scientific discovery related to the pressing health issues of the region of East Texas. Our goal is to foster a spirit of collaboration and creativity across disciplines to generate novel solutions to reduce health disparities and improve health outcomes in East Texas.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe one advance in medical research that will enhance their practice of medicine.
  2. Outline how advances in research can be implemented to practice.
  3. Identify one aspect of biomedical innovation that should be addressed to improve society.

Accreditation
The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler is accredited by the Texas Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
