Overview
The biennial Emerging Issues in Occupational & Environmental Health and General Preventative Medicine.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Attendees should have accessible knowledge to recognize emerging issues in occupational and environmental health and general preventive medicine.

 All attendees who choose the virtual attendance option will be sent the Microsoft TEAMS link the day before the event.

The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler is accredited by the Texas Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

1. Describe the epidemiology of the artificial stone silicosis outbreak, including at-risk occupations, exposure pathways, and the role of high-silica content in engineered quartz products.
2. Recognize the clinical presentation and radiographic features of accelerated silicosis in workers exposed to engineered stone, distinguishing it from classic occupational silicosis.
3. Apply an evidence-based approach to screening, diagnosis, and management of silicosis, including indications for referral, disease monitoring, and worker compensation considerations.
